Newborn baby resembles an old man
Sometimes rare things happen at birth that make you question our world. We start wondering why did this happen? A mother from Bangladesh has sympathy for her child, as unfortunately the small infant suffers from a rather rare condition known as progeria.
What this exactly does, is age someones skin rather dramatically. It is in fact so rare, that it only affects a small percentage of the population roughly around one in four million people. This mother’s baby was born on September the 25th of this year. She has questioned doctors searching for answers but accepts their newborn son.
The doctors continue to work on treatments for the unfortunate souls, who are suffering from such deformations. One of the clinical staff there mentioned that a baby such as this doesn’t resemble that of a normal baby, but that of an elderly person. Later, they will face having even more wrinkles of the skin and rougher skin type textures in their lifetime.
Both parents certainly were upset, yet the father maintains a positive outlook about their son. He mentioned that we still thank God for giving us a son. There is no need to be unhappy about the appearance of him. We accept him as he is. He also mentioned that their first child Aparna resembled their mother and their new son looks more like him only handsomer.
The fathers name is Biswajit Patro, he is a simple farmer and tries to keep a positive outlook on life. Maybe one day something can be done to change the appearance of people—who stumble through life such as this facing ridicule.
This is reminiscent of an episode of the television series The Twilight Zone. The episode title was titled “The Eye of the Beholder” and was number #42 in the series. This has a lot to say about perception, people and how we perceive things.
In the USA, there are fewer than 1,000 cases of the progeria aging disease. It also is known for its scientific name HGPS (Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome), currently there are only 74 known cases of the disease. This makes it extraordinarily rare. Another statistic mentions that approximately 1 in every 4 to 8 million newborns are affects with this disease.
The side affects of having this disease include but not limited to:
- Growth failure
- Loss of body fat
- Loss of hair
- Skin starts to look aged
- Stiffness in the joints
- Hip dislocation
With scientific breakthroughs, perhaps one day an age reversing cure will come into place and change how everyone ages. The market is huge already for such products.
