Now, when people drive down Main Street in Roswell, New Mexico they may grin at a large 22 foot tall alien statue that was erected at Dunkin’ Donuts / Baskin-Robbins. Company representatives said, “We wanted to create a landmark, something that will stay here forever”.

This statue likely will be around a while, considering it weighs an astounding 2,000 pounds. Moving it would be cumbersome and expensive. Most residents in Roswell, are delighted that Dunkin’ Donuts / Baskin-Robbins decided to create such a monument tribute. The statue was constructed over the course of four weeks. The alien looks quite fit, as if it has been working out at the local gym. Maybe this happened because the alien had been eating too many donuts and ice cream scoops.

Mayor Dennis Kintigh expressed their opinion about the statue, “This is perfect, I mean, this is the brand for this city.” One resident said, “This is what brings in money, tourism, so I think it’s awesome”.

The statue has been given a nickname entitled “alien overlord”. Perhaps this is quite fitting, after all as the statue seems to be guarding and watching out for everyone here. Representatives from Dunkin’ Donuts / Baskin-Robbins said they will be holding an official contest, where people can vote and give the statue an actual real name to be used. The name contest will be held sometime this year.

A known television series entitled “Rosewell” debuted back on October 6, 1999 and ended on May 14, 2002 airing on both the WB and UPN networks. The short lived series, captures the atmosphere of the area and centered around a high-school student who was saved. Things escalate and heat up as supernatural activity begins to engulf the entire city after a while. It is an interesting little series, that many felt ended far too quickly.
