Robotic artificial intelligence will dominate humanity

It seems that technology is advancing at such a rapid pace, that we are already seeing amazing things coming into our lives. With this new technology, comes great responsibility for the future of our world. Humans have become attached to technology with their phones, computers and more. Now, with greatness happening in this digital age, robots will become a part of our daily lives as well.

Artificial Intelligence or (AI) will soon enough become self-conscious and even more intelligent than human beings in due time. Already, companies such as Facebook have already begun seeing things happening as several computers began to communicate with one another through their very own custom language.

It seems, that science fiction stories seen on screen, aren’t so unrealistic as many people might think. Back in March of 2017, Google’s Director of Engineering Ray Kurzweil mentioned: “Within a few years, AI will have human-level intelligence.”

We are seeing, just how computers can change things – including our very own faces. New software written by the NVIDIA computer company (best known for their graphic cards) have created a GAN that uses databases of different photographs of various people. From this, the program can manipulate different facial features.

AI generated human faces

The people seen in this photo, aren’t even real they have been completely generated. Now, imagine with this program some kind of organic facial material where robots can actually change their faces. This would be a nightmare to track down, if something bad may happen or if computer hackers took control over them to do everything and anything wrong.

The idea behind this software, was to give a more realistic look. Even if several networks were matched up against one another. Sketched drawings and doodles were turned into realistic images of human faces as well. These faces were of the utmost highest quality. The programmers included different layers of detail in a higher resolution – until GAN was able to generate the type of quality needed according to NVIDIA.

Now, even human speech is being manipulated into sounding and responding comparable to that of a human being. Artificial intelligence of this nature makes use of different speech sounds. DeepMind is the world leader in artificial intelligence research and its application for positive impact. It is owned by none other then Google, who also has WaveNet this is the application of deep neural networks (e.g., Google Voice Search).

With these studies and programs in place, the DeepMind of Google with WaveNet can copy human speech nearly flawlessly. What is known as the Lyrebird algorithm can also copy a human voice nearly to the tee. This computer programmed algorithm can copy over a voice by using only one minute of audio sampling. The Google owned company, has these statements on their website:

“We’re on a scientific mission to push the boundaries of AI, developing programs that can learn to solve any complex problem without needing to be taught how. If we’re successful, we believe this will be one of the most important and widely beneficial scientific advances ever made, increasing our capacity to understand the mysteries of the universe and to tackle some of our most pressing real-world challenges.

From climate change to the need for radically improved health care, too many problems suffer from painfully slow progress, their complexity overwhelming our ability to find solutions. With AI as a multiplier for human ingenuity, those solutions will come into reach.”

Sophia robot

Now, the AI robots have is now able to comprehend human emotions. One of many robots being on display is SoftBank’s Pepper and Hanson Robotics creation “Sophia”. This robot, can interact with humans on an intelligent level – responding to questions and mimicking some physical facial features and limb type movements. This is only but the beginning of more things to come.
